English Corner and ESL classes

FREE English speaking opportunities at the BSU (401 University Blvd NE) on Monday nights through April, 2012We began our English Corner and ESL classes on Monday, January 23rd and they will continue through April. We will not meet during UNM's Spring Break, however. That will be the week of March 12th. Please join us every Monday night from 6pm-7pm for English Corner where you can have usually 1 on 1 conversations with mostly native English speakers. Then from 7-9pm we offer FREE English classes for 4 different levels of speakers. No pre-registration required. We can take care of that when you come. Also, there is no child-care provided. Hope to see you soon.

Car Buying Seminar Tonight!

Well I can see that I have been remiss in putting information on this blog!There will be a Car Buying Seminar tonight in the Cafe area of the BSU (401 University Blvd NE) It will be from 5:30-7pm.John will be hosting it along with a panel of experts in the field. Please come with your questions.

Special English Corner on November 9th

A class from our church will be coming by to see what we do at English Corner and during our ESL classes and they would like to spend about an hour talking to students, so please come and chat with several new people.

Been awhile since I've posted. We have had a VERY busy semester. Just want to remind everyone that classes and English Corner end this month with a potluck on November 28th at 6 pm. Even if you haven't been able to continue with classes, please come on the 28th to say hello (and good-bye). We look forward to seeing you then.

Since the month of August will be spent welcoming new students, we will not be doing any English activities until September 12th. Please join us then for English Corner and classes. We will start Monday, September 12th, 6-7 English Corner and 7-9 English classes. No registration required and all classes are free.

English Corner has started!

Please join us Monday nights from 6:30-8 pm at the Gracelife BSU on the NW Corner of University Blvd and Dr Martin Luther King Ave (401 University Blvd, NE) We have many volunteers who would like to converse with international students and help them practice their English. June Trip to White Sands and Carlsbad Caverns

Join us for a 2-day trip to White Sands National Monument and Carlsbad Caverns; Friday, June 10 and Saturday, June 11. We will tour both of these impressive geological sites. These are two of the best known and most impressive wonders in New Mexico!

We will leave at 7:30 AM on Friday and return about 10 PM on Saturday.

Cost per person will be:
For 2 people sharing a room: $60 each
For 4 people sharing a room: $45 each

The cost includes lodging on Friday night, all entrance fees, and a share of the gas for the van. You will have to pay for your own meals and any additional purchases you may make.

We have room for up to 12 people. Those who register first will have priority.

All fees will be collected before we start on Friday. Please bring a check or cash (we can't process credit cards).
Rooms have been reserved at the Motel 6 in Carlsbad. They are non-smoking double rooms (2 double beds in each room). (Breakfast is not included in the room charge.)

Not much in May

Taking May off and English Corner starts in June. Join us at 6:30pm on June 6th, for English Corner at the BSU. We will end at 8pm. No classes this summer.
Hope everyone works hard this month on finals and papers, and for some of you, graduation! See you next month.

Hi Everyone,

Missed you all last week during Spring Break. We will start up again tonight, March 21st, with English Corner at 6pm and classes from 7-9pm. Hope to see you all there! We will meet every Monday night now through April 18th. 401 University Blvd, NE on the NW corner of Dr Martin Luther King, Jr Ave and University Blvd.
Remember, April 18th will just be a potluck and last night celebration. More on that later..

Classes starting again!

Hi Everyone. Please join us at the Baptist Student Union (BSU) on Monday, January 24th as we start up our English activities again. We will again have English Corner at 6pm and classes beginning at 7 and ending at 9. We will meet each Monday night through April (except during Spring break). The address is 401 University Blvd NE.Hope to see you all there.

Also there will be a Welcome Dinner and Swing Dance event at the BSU on Friday, January 21st from 6:30-9:30pm for all international students. Bring a dish to share and be prepared to dance at least part of the night away.
